Our Benefits

RAICES offers an industry-leading benefits package that prioritizes compensation, comprehensive wellness, and work-life balance for our employees.

    • Equitable Wages: The base annualized salary is 14% higher than the Texas not-for-profit average, and the median salary is 3% above the national median across all sectors. Union-eligible employees received an average salary increase of 8.4% following the 2024 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    • Retirement Savings (403(b)): The plan features immediate vesting, and the organization provides a structured employer match of up to 4% (full 1:1 match on the first 3% and 50% match on the subsequent two percentage points).

    • Accreditation Incentives: Employees who successfully complete Department of Justice (DOJ) accreditation receive a one-time $1,500 bonus.

    • Comprehensive Healthcare: RAICES underwrites 100% of the medical, vision, and dental premiums for employee-only coverage, regardless of the plan selected.

    • Life and Disability: Full-time employees receive $50,000 basic life insurance and $50,000 accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) at no cost. Long-Term Disability (LTD) is also employer-paid, offering up to 60% of base wages after a 90-day waiting period.

    • Mental Health and EAP: The basic life policy includes an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for confidential counseling, legal, and financial advisory resources. The organization also provides quarterly mental health training and access to calming spaces.

    • Paid Time Off (PTO): Annual PTO accruals range from 24 to 60 days based on tenure, exceeding the national non-profit average of 17.5 days by 37% to 243%. The policy mandates that employees not be contacted while on leave, except in emergencies.

    • Parental Leave: Full-time staff (after six months) are eligible for 10 weeks of paid parental and postpartum leave, which is 25% higher than the national maternal leave average.

    • Civic Leave: Provides four hours of paid administrative time for voting in federal, state, and local elections, which is not deducted from PTO. Unlimited paid leave is guaranteed for jury duty and witness testimony, with full salary continuation and benefit accrual for the entire length of the case.

    • Work Flexibility: Most staff are guaranteed a maximum of two days per week in the office. Fully remote union-eligible staff receive a $35/month internet subsidy.

    • Workload Management: Supervisors and employees collaboratively develop work plans to account for capacity, and non-exempt employees receive overtime pay.
