RAICES is committed to providing in-house wrap around services for all legal clients on a rolling referral basis. Our social case managers, with the support of the Social Program department, provide on-site client needs assessments, carry caseloads, and provide social services as needed to ensure the empowerment of our clients. We believe all of our clients should leave our services in a better place than when services began.
Bus Station Program
The Bus Station Project’s main purposes are to provide important information regarding the next steps in people’s immigration process, raise awareness to apprehension, detention, and release patterns, and connect people with avenues of continuing support where referral partnerships have been established.
The Canopy hotline aims to connect migrants to community resources throughout the United States to ensure their basic necessities have been met. Our Canopy staff have diligently searched for community resources and agencies that aim to serve the migrant population throughout their entire process–while they await their case, when they receive status, and once they are adjusted into the United States.
The need to provide safe haven for refugees from all corners of our globe has never been higher. War, poverty, famine, violence, genocide, and much more are displacing many – with an estimated total of 70.8 million people were forcibly displaced worldwide. RAICES is a designated refugee resettlement agency, welcoming and supporting refugees and their families from all over the world as they make their home in San Antonio.
The RAICES Bond Program started in 2014 to cover the release of mothers and children then held in Family Detention Centers in Texas and Pennsylvania. In June 2018, the program grew when a viral Facebook fundraiser inspired more than 500,000 individual donors who were furious at the government ripping families apart and the otherwise inhumane treatment of immigrants in the United States. Since then, we have responded to daily requests from people in detention, and our Bond Program covers people within the geographic scope of the state of Texas.
