We do not target, advertise-to, solicit, nor encourage children under the age of 13 to use our website.
We have two forms of information collecting on our website:
We utilize Google Analytics to track visitors to our website in a non-personally-identifying way so that, in aggregate form, we can review how many people are visiting our website, how they got to our website, how long they’re on our website, and what the last page they visited on our webpage is, along with other aggregate analytics. We use this information to improve the content on our pages, and improve our content on affiliate and social media websites, to encourage people to visit our website.
From time to time we may use products like “MouseFlow” and “Unbounce” which help us identify how our pages are performing by identifying which pages, buttons, and content aspects are engaged with most by our visitors. We do not “MouseFlow” or “Unbounce” to target individuals but rather to identify which of our content and design elements resonate the most with our visitors. But non-identifying information about browsing actions may be collected and stored in those systems in order to do that analysis.
From time to time, we may use other aggregate analytics tools, in addition to Google Analytics, Unbounce, and MouseFlow.
We have a number of forms on our website that allow users to voluntarily submit information to us. We use this information to sign users up to our email list, allow users to donate to our organization, and to take various digital advocacy actions like signing petitions and contacting government officials about important issues.
For non-donation forms, we do not sell nor donate your information with outside organizations or parties unless the form explicitly mentions a partnership with other organizations, in which case the information submitted on those forms may be shared with those partnering organizations — with one exception: we may, from time to time, rent or sell our supporter information with RAICES Action Fund, a 501(c)4.
For all forms, be they donation forms, action forms, or email signup forms, we reserve the right to provide that information to ad-networks for the sole purpose of helping us identify our supporters and people who are like our supporters on those ad-networks (including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and Google), so that we can show our supporters and people who are similar to our supports advertisements informing them about our work, our campaigns, and fundraising and action alerts.
We do use browser-local-storage systems to remember a “source code” for how you came to visit our site, if you clicked through via an affiliate, from an email we sent you, from a post on social media, or other links that contain a source code. We use browser-local-storage to associate that source code with forms you fill out on our website, including donation forms, email-newsletter-signup forms, and digital advocacy forms. We use this information to evaluate which affiliate websites, posts, and third-party content channels are performing, so that we can adjust our relationships and content accordingly.
On our website we do not store, ask for, solicit or request any information from users regarding private medical information, nor private legal information.
What information we collect
In addition to the above, our forms ask for name, email, address, credit-card, telephone, and email subscription preference information. We store all of this information via a technology partner called EveryAction. The payments themselves are processed via Paragon Payments. Neither RAICES nor EveryAction store your credit card number — that is only stored by Paragon Payments, in their PCI compliant data-centers.
We Respect Your Privacy
RAICES is committed to respecting the privacy of our generous donors, whether the donation is made online, by mail, or any other way. As a legal service provider, we understand confidentiality is important, and we protect all our donor information using industry standard safeguards.
RAICES uses Fundraise Up as an online donation platform. All donation data collected is subject to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”), and other applicable privacy laws. Non-Personal Information that is collected remains anonymous or non-personally identifiable. All Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is encrypted. Financial information such as banking information or credit card number, name, CVV code or date of expiration, is collected and stored by a third party payment processor. Financial information is not stored by Fundraise Up.
When making a donation through Fundraise UP, information collected may include:
Contact and account information such as name, email address, physical address, location data, phone number, and social media information;
Technical information collected. Such information may include standard web log entries that contain IP address, cookies (first party, third party, session, persistent, and flash), web beacons, page URL and timestamp.
What Information is Collected.
We collect and maintain the following types of donor information:
Contact information: name, organization/company, complete address, phone number, email address, location data, social media information
Donation information: donation date(s), donation amount(s), donation method(s), donation designation(s)
Additional information: requests, comments and volunteer history.
Credit card numbers are NOT retained by RAICES, nor by EveryAction, nor by Fundraise Up. Credit Card information is only retained by card processors: Paragon Payment Solutions, Stripe, PayPal, and Plaid. You have the right to review the information we have collected about you. How the Information is Used.
RAICES uses your data to maintain donation records, send tax acknowledgements, mail year-end tax statements, share newsletters, send direct mail pieces, and to show you ads on ad-networks including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Google, and other ad-networks.
RAICES will not sell, share, rent, trade or transfer your personal information to any other organizations, except from time to time we may sell or rent our supporter information with RAICES Action Fund, a 501(c)4 not-for-profit entity, and we reserve the right to share our support list information for ad-targeting purposes with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Google, and other ad-networks. We do NOT list individuals’ names on ANY of our publications, including social media, unless a donor gives us specific permission.
