Portraits from the Exodus

This family portrait by Tracie Williams of a pregnant Mexican mother with her two children has touched me since I first saw it a couple of years ago. The mother is holding them for protection and her smile is forced as if she's trying to look happy and keep it together for her children. The young boy looks like he's confused by his surroundings and the mother's daughter looks scared to death as if she never wants to let go of her mom and brother. This portrait is the epitome of the immigrant's journey.
