CALL SCRIPT:
Hello. My name is [YOUR NAME] and I live in [YOUR STATE].
I am calling to demand that [Senator or Congressmember] reject any legislation to codify Title 42.
As doctors and public health experts have made clear, immigration is not a source of pandemic spread.
Title 42 was never about public health, but rather to turn away Black and Brown migrants, deny their chance to rightfully seek asylum, and expose them to dangerous physical violence and exploitation.
Repealing Title 42 is not a question of public health or resources, it is simply the right and moral thing to do.
Can I count on [insert Representative name] to ensure the end of Title 42 and help restore our asylum system?
Thank you for your time.

Members of Congress are back on the Hill this week and more determined than ever to codify Title 42 into law.
Democrats are working with Republicans in Congress in an attempt to force a vote on legislation that would mandate the continuation of Title 42 and codify this racist policy into law.
Democratic Senators Kyrsten Sinema, Mark Kelly, Maggie Hassan, Jon Tester, and Joe Manchin co-sponsored a Republican bill to extend and codify Title 42. The Lankford-Sinema bill would put thousands of asylum seekers at risk of danger and persecution.
Their attempt to keep Title 42 on the books is not about public health, but is instead about stoking fear and xenophobia ahead of this year’s Midterm Elections and gaining political favor with right-wing extremists. We cannot let this happen.
The Center for Disease Control has already stated that it will not renew Title 42 because immigration is not a source of pandemic spread. Any attempt to extend this policy is blatantly racist and aimed at preventing Black and Brown people from seeking safety in the U.S.
With the end of Title 42, communities and organizations at the border and across the country are ready to help restore our asylum system and welcome people seeking safety with open arms. Repealing Title 42 is not a question of public health or resources; it is simply the right and moral thing to do.
Call your Democratic representatives in Congress to tell them to reject any legislation and block any vote to codify Title 42.
