RAICES Launches NEW Explainer Video Serving Notice to Senate Democrats on Build Back Better: “Push for a pathway to citizenship”

“The parliamentarian is simply a teacher – Democrats have the power to disregard and overrule her with the assistance of the Vice President.”

San Antonio, TX – In anticipation of the vote in the U.S. Senate on the budget reconciliation package, or the ‘Build Back Better’ plan, RAICES launched a video explainer on all of its channels featuring Allen Morris, RAICES Legislative Affairs Associate on the package’s immigration provisions as part of their #KeepThePromise campaign.

The video urges viewers to call their Senators to ensure a pathway for citizenship for all immigrants in the Senate version of the Build Back Better bill. You can view the video on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube.

“RAICES believes that everyone deserves a pathway to citizenship, and right now with the bill language set in place, it does not cover everyone,” said Allen Morris, Legislative Affairs Associate for RAICES. “Senate Democrats have the option to expand and broaden the language. We are calling on all Senators to push for a pathway to citizenship.”

“The parliamentarian is simply a teacher – Democrats have the power to disregard and overrule her with the assistance of the Vice President,” continued Morris. “It is imperative that everyone pick up the phone and call your Senator. Tell them to ensure that there is a pathway to citizenship for all immigrants.”

RAICES unwaveringly believes that after decades of broken promises, undocumented immigrants deserve a path to citizenship immediately, and nothing less. The immigrant community deserves the freedom to work with dignity, respect, and freedom from detention instead of living in a state of constant fear.
