This year, more than 95% of the refugees RAICES resettled are SIV recipients from Afghanistan, many of whom served as interpreters for the U.S. military. We know first-hand the courage and sacrifice it took for these Afghan families to assist the United States despite dangerous threats, and then to leave their homeland and come to the United States to build new lives. We cannot allow the Biden Administration and Congress to leave our Afghan allies behind or close our borders to Afghan people seeking safety.
