No one should be exiled from the only place they know as home or separated from their family because of a few mistakes.
That’s exactly what’s happening to Abdalla. Abdalla is a 47-year-old Tanzanian Muslim American detained at the Kay County Detention Center in Oklahoma. He is married to a U.S. citizen, has a 5-year-old daughter and owned a thriving food truck business in New York City.
Prior to a criminal conviction, Abdalla had legal residency in the United States. And even though a criminal court judge ruled that he is not a danger to his community, Abdalla has been in detention for three years where he has no access to the medication he needs to survive. That’s why RAICES is partnering with Al Otro Lado to fight for Abdalla’s freedom. Will you join us?
The petition to the Biden Administration reads:
“Abdalla needs access to life-saving medication that staff at the Kay County Detention Center in Oklahoma have refused to give him. We urge the Biden Administration to free Abdalla now so he can be with his wife and daughter as he continues to provide testimony in a federal lawsuit fighting ICE abuse.”
Our partners Al Otro Lado will deliver the petition signatures to the Biden administration.
