“The passing of this Bill is as a result of years of organizing and pressure from the immigrant rights movement, but we won’t celebrate anything until we see material differences in the lives of immigrants in the United States. We have lived through many broken promises on immigration. Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) and the Dream Act failed in Congress time and time again, even when Democrats had the majority in the Senate. Democrats need to Keep the Promise. Today is a good day for every Democrat in the Senate to pledge to use all tools at their disposal to legalize as many people as possible without relying on the Party of Trump. They must abolish the filibuster and use the budget reconciliation process, to provide protection to the immigrant community.”
