IRA GIFTS

If you are 70 ½ years of age or older, you can take advantage of two simple ways to champion our mission and receive tax benefits in return by giving from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA).

You may give up to $100,000 annually from your IRA directly to qualified charitable institutions like RAICES without paying any income taxes. Called an IRA Charitable Rollover or Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), this popular gift option can also satisfy all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution* (RMD).

As of 2023, you may establish a Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) with a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) of up to $50,000 tax-free from your IRA. With a CGA, a donor makes a gift to a public charity like RAICES in exchange for a fixed, lifetime payment. CGA payout rates are now at the highest level in over a decade.

Ask your IRA administrator or visit their website to learn how to make a distribution directly to RAICES from your IRA or more about the new ability to fund a CGA from your IRA. Please notify us of your completed or upcoming IRA transfer by submitting the form below. This will ensure that we can connect you to your gift when it arrives and provide the proper documentation for your tax purposes. You may also use the form to request more information about creating a Charitable Gift Annuity to benefit you and RAICES.

View Publication 590-B for information about Qualified Charitable Distributions on the IRS website.

*Individuals who reach age 72 before December 31 must generally start receiving distributions from their IRA by April 1 of the year following the year in which they reach age 72. Individuals who reach age 72 after December 31 may delay receiving their RMD until April 1 of the year following the year in which they turn age 73.
